Indonesia has a lot to offer when it comes to nightlife. The archipelago of 18,000 islands is brimming with exciting clubs and bars that are ready to show you how to party like it’s the last day of your life. It is important to keep in mind that the country’s Muslim majority is very strict when it comes to alcoholic beverages. Therefore, it’s better to avoid drinking alcohol in public and if you want to drink, do so in private with friends or at least in small groups.
If you’re looking for a place to drink in style, look no further than the bar at Oakwood Premier Cozmo in Mega Kuningan. It has a visually eye-catching design, and it serves all the hottest cocktails in town. The original Thonet chairs, subway beveled tiles and tin and copper ceiling panels create a Paris bistro meets New York loft in the 1940’s vibe. Definitely one of the best bars to hang out in Jakarta, although it’s slightly pricey and attracts 20-25 year old hipsters.
Another top spot to visit is Koda, curated by Jakarta’s very own resident Japanese bartender Yutaka Nakashima. This classy cocktail bar in the Sudirman 7.8 building is a must-visit, and its menu includes classic cocktails twisted with the finest local ingredients.
A popular hangout for expats in the Kemang area, this bar is known for its drinks, pool tables and giant beer garden. It is a favourite amongst middle-class Indonesians, young or old, and has live music every night.
