Pub Review: West 4th/Jane

In this day and age where the average pub is a relic of yore, it’s refreshing to find a place that’s still in touch with the latest trends. West 4th/Jane is just such a place. Aside from its beer selection, the restaurant offers an extensive food menu and a classy cocktail program. It’s a nice mix of the bar world and the lounge scene.

For the foodies among us, the menu is a treat. Aside from the ubiquitous pub grub, there are an impressive 11 starters to choose from. From the aforementioned shrimps to the more esoteric mussels mariniere, this place has something for everyone.

The beer list is surprisingly long for a newcomer. With a range of both craft and mainstream brews, there’s no need to head to the nearest brewery. On the other hand, if you’re looking to do a little more of the drinking than the eating, you’ll need to venture outside the walls of the place.

The Old Town Pub, as the name suggests, is a great place to start a sundowner before dinner. However, don’t expect to be seated here until late in the afternoon, unless you’re lucky.

One of the coolest things about the place is the quaint outdoor seating area. During the warm months, there are a number of cozy seating areas, including a patio with an awning and a grassy yard. This is where you’ll be able to see locals in their twenties and thirties dancing into the night.
